LUMAREF began inside LiftGateMe, where a large replacement-parts catalog and years of OEM manuals, diagrams, and technical information created a familiar challenge — and shaped how LUMAREF understands technical product knowledge today.
Why we built this
Parts documentation is one of the last frontiers of unstructured commercial data. Every OEM publishes their manuals differently. Every distributor has to manually re-key that data into their systems. The result: outdated catalogs, incorrect fitment, lost sales, and frustrated customers.
We started LumaRef after watching teams at equipment distributors spend 60–70% of their catalog management time on data entry from PDFs — work that adds no value and yet can't be skipped.
Modern AI can read these documents the way a trained parts specialist would — recognizing table structures, part hierarchies, cross-references, and fit guides regardless of how the original was formatted. We built LumaRef to put that capability in the hands of every parts business, not just the large ones who can afford custom data teams.
Our goal is simple: a world where every part is discoverable, every catalog is accurate, and no one has to retype a part number ever again.
